Hybrid Plank Installation Instructions

Sense, XL and XXL plank & Valinge 5G Dry click installation guide

Pre-Installation Checklist

48-Hour Acclimatization

Keep closed boxes in the target installation room for at least 48 hours at a temperature of 18-24°C and relative humidity of 40-60%.

Subfloor Condition Check

The subfloor must be dry, clean, structurally sound, and level. Any unevenness greater than 2mm per 1 meter run must be leveled.

Moisture Barrier & Underlay

A PE vapor barrier film (min 0.2mm) is mandatory over concrete. Install acoustic underlayment perpendicular to the parquet plank direction.

Acquire Expansion Spacers

Acquire spacers to maintain a 10mm expansion gap along all walls, pipes, thresholds, and fixed vertical structures.

CRITICAL: Underfloor Heating Requirements

Underfloor heating systems must be turned off 48h before installation and started gradually (5°C increments per day) 48h after installation. Maximum surface temperature must not exceed 27°C.

PROHIBITED: Mechanical Fixation Warning

Laminate flooring is designed to be installed exclusively as a floating floor. Never nail, screw, glue, or rigidly fix the boards to the subfloor or baseboards, as they need to expand and contract.

Installation Step-by-Step Procedure

1

1. Laying the First Row

Start in the left corner of the room with the tongue side facing the wall. Place 10mm spacers between the wall and the planks. Click the short end of the second plank into the first plank by folding it flat.

Tip: The Välinge 5G Dry system locks vertically, making installation fast and glue-free.

2. Vertical 5G Lock Engagement

Align the long side tongue into the groove at a slight angle. Press the plank down. As it lays flat, you will hear a distinct 'click', indicating the plastic strip in the end joint has locked vertically.

Tip: Check that the short end is flush. If not, lift, adjust, and fold down again.

3. Minimum 40cm Offset Stagger

Start the second row with the cut-off piece from the first row (must be at least 40cm long). Ensure all end joints are offset by at least 40cm from the joints in adjacent rows for structural stability.

Tip: Staggered joints distribute stress and prevent the floor from buckling.

4. The Pull-Bar for the Final Row

When reaching the final row, measure the remaining width carefully (taking the 10mm gap into account). Cut the planks lengthwise. Use a laminate pull-bar and mallet to lock the long joints of the final row.

Tip: Pull-bars are essential for tight joints next to walls.

5. Removing Spacers & Finishing

After completing the floor, remove all expansion wedges. Install matching baseboards by fastening them to the wall, never to the floor itself, allowing the floor to float freely.

Tip: Do not pack expansion gaps with silicone; it restricts wood movement.
